There is a cost for egg donation recipients to go through the testing and conceiving procedures in have a baby.  These tests are needed so that the chances of a woman getting pregnant would increase.   In addition to that, there is the cost of fertility drugs and other incidentals. As most people know, in vitro fertilization alone cost over $12,000.  Fertility drugs can cost anywhere from $30 on up to $4,000 or more, depending on what the egg donation recipients need and if they have insurance.

The egg donation recipients’ cost to conceive a child is not cheap.  If they have insurance, that can take some of the load off of them, provided that the insurance will cover some or all of the procedures.  They need to find out how much everything will cost so that they can present it to their health insurance company.  Some insurance companies will pay something, if not the whole thing.  Others may not.

There are other egg donation recipients’ costs.  They have to be represented by an attorney, who will draw up drafts for the recipients and the egg donor, they are legal counsel for the egg donation recipients, acts as a negotiator for them, is responsible for drafting a clearance letter once all parties have signed off on the contract.  The attorney’s fee for this can be about $1,000 or possibly more.

The egg donation recipients will also need an insurance policy.  This major medical insurance policy is to cover any complications that could happen during the egg donation procedure.  The egg donation recipients’ cost for this is around $350 and up.

Other medical expenses include screening, prescriptions for the egg donation recipient as well as the donor, ultrasounds, the aspiration procedure (egg retrieval) from the egg donor, fertilizing, egg donation recipient’s embryo implantation in the uterus, the processing of sperm, intracytoplasmic sperm injection cost, and after care.  The egg donation recipients’ cost can be between $15,000 - $25,000 or more.  The egg donation recipients are responsible for making the payment for medical expenses to the doctor for the procedure and the pharmacist for medications.

There is a lot involved in the egg donation recipients’ cost.  They should consult with their insurance carrier to see what they will pay.  Otherwise, they will have to seek other financial options before they can get this procedure done.
